The 24th Winter Olympic Games (Beijing 2022) is just around the corner，the minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism,Republic of Korea（MCST）Hwang Hee will lead a delegation to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics from February 4 to 20.
There was a long history of participating in ice and snow projects in our country. Since 1948, our country has participated in all previous winter Olympics except that it was unable to participate in the 1952 Oslo Winter Olympics for some reasons. At the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, our team gained five gold, eight silver and four bronze medals, seventh in the gold medal list and sixth in the comprehensive medal list. Ice and snow sports have also been further promoted benefited from the Winter Olympics.
Our country set up a 124 member delegation including 63 athletes for The Beijing Winter Olympics,and will go to Beijing from January 28 to February 13. In addition, the United States will assign 222 athletes to participate.
Both belong to East Asia,this Winter Olympics will help promote peace and development on the peninsula and even the world. As UN Secretary General António Guterres said:”The Olympic Games is an extremely important event and a symbol of sports uniting the public and advocating peace”,” It is against this background, without any political position, that I will appear at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games to convey this message to you: the Olympic Games will certainly become a booster to promote world peace”
The "Beijing eight minutes" performance at the closing ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games left a deep impression on the world with a strong sense of science and technology and the future.The slogan” Together for a Shared Future” is full of hope. The Winter Olympic Games belong to all athletes, volunteers, spectators and everyone who loves sports. Let's look forward to the wonderful performances of Korean athletes in the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and also wait in hope for the successful holding of the 2024 Gangwon-do Winter Youth Olympic Games in the near future.
